about extendmac

what's extendmac?

Extendmac is a tiny software startup, focused on designing beautiful, intuitive, and functional software for both Mac OS X and iPhone. Today, you'll most likely recognize Extendmac for Flow, the Apple Design Award winning file transfer client crafted exclusively for Mac OS X Leopard.

Despite our tiny size and our youth, Extendmac has developed a culture of its own. Wholesome engineering and breathtaking design are monumentally important to us. We're driven by passion — not profits — because we believe that working on things we want to use ourselves is the only way to make great stuff.

what's with the name?

Our name is derived from the tremendous respect we have for the Mac. We model ourselves after the Mac's innovation, attention to detail, and commitment to design. In a literal sense, our goal is to extend what makes the Mac great to markets we're interested in, like web development and social networking.

who's behind all of this?

From "wouldn't it be great if..." to 1.0, it probably happens on Brian Amerige's whiteboard. He's a crazily ambitious guy who is literally insulted by bad design and careless engineering. He also enjoys writing in the third-person.

After doing it all on his own for a while, Brian decided to take Steve Jobs' advice, and form a team. If you're a highly-motivated and passionate person who either knows Cocoa, breathes pixels, or wants to learn, we definitely need to talk. See the announcement post for more information on working at Extendmac.
