Blog: What we've done, what we're doing, and what we will do.
Our blog is the place for everything relating to Extendmac; whether it be product updates, news, or tips and tricks. It may not be the most interesting blog on the planet, but we like to think that you'd rather have us build great stuff than write about plans to do so. ;]

Flow 1.1.2 is now available. The changes are as follows:

  • The local-view now maintains its alphabetical sort properly.
  • Fix for FTP where heavily nested directory hierarchies would cause Flow to sit, idle.
  • Large performance fix for uploading heavily-nested directories.
  • SFTP, Amazon S3, and iDisk droplets now work properly.

If you’ve already got a copy of Flow, click “Check for Updates” from the “Flow” menu, sit back, and enjoy. If you haven’t tried Flow yet (or want to try it again), download a copy — you won’t be sorry you did ;-)

All the best to you and yours,
Brian, Olivier, & Jordan.

Very slick looking app. I do have a couple of issues.

While I am editing files, the connection seems to be timing out. It saves the file to the server but with _RESTORED added to the file. If I delete this file and try to reopen the original file it opens blank. The only way I have been able to get the original file to open again is to quit the app and start again, trying to make the edits before it times out again.

When I was uploading a large amount of files with subdirectories the transfer speed was not correct. For each level of directory structure the parent folder displayed a slower speed. For example the top level parent folder said I was uploading at 6 KB/s, but two levels down it would say 90KB/s another couple of levels and and with the actual file being uploaded it flickered around 600KB/s-1.3MB/s. Try uploading concrete5 (www.concrete5.org) and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Lastly it would be good to have back and forward progression on the local directory side panel, instead of having to always going to the bottom of the window.

Fantastic app none the less

Hi

I’m really impressed by your app, I love the combination of design and functionality. I’ve just downloaded and played with it, but so far I miss two things: first, how can I change file permissions of a whole folder and all its files at once, not one by one, and second, is there a way to see a log of the whole process (connecting, authorization, and so on)?

Thanks!

I quote Travis’s comment above:

“While I am editing files, the connection seems to be timing out. It saves the file to the server but with _RESTORED added to the file. If I delete this file and try to reopen the original file it opens blank. The only way I have been able to get the original file to open again is to quit the app and start again, trying to make the edits before it times out again.”

I am having the exact same problem. What I’ve been doing as a quick remedy is copying the entire _RESTORED file’s contents, quitting the application, and then pasting over the original file’s contents. Hopefully this connection timed out issue will be fixed soon.

Other than that, I love the app! It’s been my main ftp client and html editor for a couple of months now. Flow + photoshop is my entire website suite :-) Great job, extendmac!
